Eco-Tones Performances
Root Systems Institute provides engaging presentations that meet audiences where
they are and take them where they want to go.  Even though the topics
covered often
require serious attention and concerted, immediate action, t
he process of learning
should always be fun.  I have 15 years of experience as a speaker and an educator
and I specialize in making information that is confusing or challenging easy to
understand and embrace.

My public talks are designed to educate and inspire audiences with a combination of
real-world examples of what is
, and compelling visions of what could be.  I offer
presentations on a variety of s
ubjects but am more than happy to customize the
format or content so that it meet your needs and speaks to your audience.

Here are a few presentation titles:

  • Sustainability 101: Saving the World, Saving Ourselves
  • Initiating Global Change from the Inside Out
  • When It's Okay to Bring Your Work Home: Work Life Sustainability
  • Building the Foundations for Change: Cultivating the Internal Skills for the
    Transition to Sustainability
  • The Transition Town Movement: Relocalization and Community
  • Peak Oil, Climate Change and Voluntary Simplicity
The Eco-Tones performances combine practical information about how to live a
more satisfying and sustainable life with a compelling and thought-provoking music
performance.  T
he Eco-Tones have been performing together for nearly seven years
and have developed a unique program with an uncommon synergistic harmony.

They say that music is t
he universal language and an edu-tainment presentation
might be perfect if you're looking for a fun and compelling way to engage your
audience.

“Jennifer understands people,
and she knows that lecturing
them about their carbon footprint
or telling them to buy compact
fluorescent light bulbs isn't really
going to change their lives.
Instead, she approaches topics
like sustainability and simple
living from a holistic perspective
and helps audiences look at their
motivations and attitudes and the
things that make them truly
happy.  She does all this while
connecting to audiences in a very
personal, relaxed, and down-to-
earth manner – and with a great
sense of humor!"

Workshops and Classes
My programs always emphasize the psychological and values-based aspects of
transitioning to a more sustainable lifestyle
as those aspects are mostly overlooked
in our culture and
they are essential for achieving satisfying, long-term behavior
change
.  I also offer a whole-systems, whole-life perspective because even if you are
the most environmentally sustainable person on the planet, a
nd your relationship or
finances are in the toilet, that is just not sustainable.
Any of the topics below can be
combined or customized to create a unique program that is ideal for your audience.

Classes
These educational programs are usually an hour or two, and depending upon the
setting and content, may include an opportunity for activities and participant
involvement.   Some topics include: Simple Ways to Reduce Your Environmental
Impact at Home and on the Go; Initiating Global Change from the Inside Out;
Cultivating the Internal Skills for Sustainability; Communication Skills; Mindfulness
and Voluntary Simplicity; Green Business Basics;
and Whole Life Sustainability.

Workshops
These half-day to two-day day educational events are designed to be interactive and
experiential and leave participants with new awareness, s
kills, and motivation that
they can apply to all areas of their lives.

“The playful soulful Eco-Tones
awaken that wild spirit within –
awaken that part of us that
yearns to roll up our sleeves
and heal this breathing planet.
Like running with the pack or
beating wings in mass
migration, this performance
tugs at the roots of what it
means to be alive during the
sixth extinction.  Between the
woodpile and the vegetable
garden, the Eco-Tones crafted
rhythms and spoken word that
inspired my activist friends
toward greatness on behalf of
earth.”
