I've developed curriculum, experiential activities, and resource materials for a
diverse range of topics including traffic accident reconstruction, communication
skills, ethics, HIV basics, life skills, and environmental sustainability.  I love the
process of figuring out how to communicate the complicated or challenging
material you're trying to convey, in a way that is engaging and easy to understand.
I also believe that people enjoy learning more, and that it is more effective, when
it's fun.  So I always encourage the incorporation of humor and relevant examples.

A few of my past clients include: Northwestern University, Boulder Bioneers,
Living Lightly Fair, Boulder County AIDS Project, Higher EDge, Boulder College of
Massage Therapy Psychosocial Department, Learning for Living, and the Green
Heart Institute.

Communications Support
In many ways, writing and teaching are two sides of the same coin.  And most of
us realize that communicating effectively with employees, stakeholders, and the
public can be a important aspect of your success.  I will help you develop copy for
internal or client communications, newsletters, articles, web content, and more.
Do I need coaching or consulting?
Depending on your needs and goals you might  find you want a little bit of both.
Coaching focuses more on the internal aspects of your experience.  Developing
mindfulness, uncovering beliefs, setting goals, enhancing communication.  And,
during coaching we trust that the wisdom you need is within you.  We use a
process of inquiry and guided self-reflection that enables you to apply greater
awareness, knowledge and skill to all of your decisions and actions.

During a consultation our attention is directed more heavily on external factors
and projects.  Typically we've acknowledged that I posses some particular
background that is helpful to you in your situation.  For instance, you need help
incorporating greener practices into your business or developing a holistic
sustainability education program for your volunteers, or you want assistance with
internet research for an upcoming presentation or support in writing an article
about your organization's recent successes.  In these instances I become more
directive and task-orientated in order to obtain specific and efficient results.
Not Your Typical Consultant
For a variety of reasons I've hesitated to call what I do consulting.  We've all heard
the jokes and seen the cartoons...the consultant comes in, takes your watch off
your wrist, tells you the time, and then sends you a bill for an enormous amount
of money.  First of all, since I consistently advocate for simpler, more
conservative ways of life I ensure that my fees are reasonable and correlate with
that fiscal reality.

And also, because I've spent many years as an educator I'd rather empower you
with the skills to address the challenges you face, rather than tackle them for you.
So, unless it's something I posses a particular expertise in, or you feel you don't
want to take the time to learn something new, our relationship will be much more
practical and collaborative.
